Beam of Hope Machanne is one of the flood affected villages of Tehsil Pasrur, District Sialkot, which was badly hit in August 2010. The total population of this village is 1288, and majority of the population is Muslim (99%) while Christians are only 1 % there. Agriculture is main source of income there. This village is situated on the bank of Nala Daik.
August 2010 was horrible for this village, when flood hit this village due to the over flow of Nala Daik. Because of this fowl play of fate houses of almost every person living in this village affected. The house of Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq who is a laborer by profession and resident of this village was also badly hit as the water flowed there almost for 5 days. Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq has 4 daughters and 2 sons and his per day income is Rs. 400/-. He thought that was the end of days for his family, as his house was fallen because of the water and he did not have money to rebuild his house. They had nothing with them except their lives. And unfortunately Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq got injured as well, and he did not even move for five days. There was nothing left in their house due to this flood.
A team from Caritas Pakistan Lahore visited the said village for survey to enlist the families who were badly affected, and assured their full support to the flood hit people. CPL proved to be a beam of hope for Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq. CPL provided roof material to the said family, and now the whole family is living happily in their house. The family along with whole village appreciated the CPL work for this noble cause. |
